Last month a trader asked me about the best tools for traders right now.
I thought about it for a moment.
And the answer came to me pretty quickly.
I’ve used quite a few different tools this year. Some have been great. Some not so much.
But these 4 tools have had the biggest impact on my trading in 2024:
- Excel: for data analysis
- Chat GPT: for code generation
- Remarkable: to work on new trading ideas
- Notion: keeps me and my hedge fund team organized
Each has a different purpose, but they’ve all been incredibly valuable.
What may surprise you, unless you’ve heard me say this before, is my favorite tool in this list has to be my Remarkable digital notepad.
I take it with me everywhere.
I have almost 1,000 pages of trading notes in it already – some of my BEST trading work is done away from the computer.
What many traders don’t realize (or perhaps don’t want to accept) is the importance of taking time away from your computer.
Take a break.
Go to a new location.
Get a fresh perspective on things.
Sitting in front of a computer non-stop can be draining. Trying to push through it isn’t always the best solution.
One of my favorite “escapes” is to go to my local coffee shop, relax and let my mind wander. Any ideas I have get logged into my Remarkable for another day. It’s been a truly “remarkable” experience.
Remember, rest and relaxation are an important part of developing as a trader too.
