I heard a surprising fact this week.
It seemed so crazy I thought it couldn’t be true.
So I did an extensive 10-second internet search and it seems accurate:
Colonel Sanders (the genius who created Kentucky Fried Chicken), had his delicious recipe rejected 1,009 times when he was trying to franchise!
Over a thousand rejections, yet he didn’t quit.
Can you imagine what the world would be like if he quit at 1,008 rejections?
We’d have no KFC…
No buckets of that juicy fried chicken…
And the secret herbs and spices could have been lost forever.
The horror!
That’s NOT a world I want to think about.
Ok, I’m going a little over the top here, but the story IS impressive.
And it contains a few tasty lessons for traders.
The obvious one is the resilience to keep going, despite setbacks and failures. Some traders quit way too soon, without giving themselves enough time or opportunity to figure it out.
Persistence is key to making it in trading.
Also, it’s easy to want what successful people have. Many people see the wins but don’t understand the hard work required to achieve that success.
Some traders expect to be consistently profitable after a few months or a year, which is highly unlikely. It can take many years to be successful in trading.
You can shortcut that using the proven “recipe” others have used, but it still takes time and effort.
Anyway, apologies if you’re reading this around mealtime.
I’m making myself hungry too.
And I’ve just started salivating on my keyboard, so I should go…
Keep on clucking,
Tomas
