A few days ago, Protege member Mark shared a post in the BTA community about how he feels like this trading has hit a plateau lately.

This is VERY common in trading.

All traders go through periods of feeling like this.

I have too, many times.

Trading can be tough to master.

It can take lots of time and energy and make you feel like you’re struggling to make any progress, so what Mark is feeling isn’t unusual.

I’m glad he identified the problem and shared it with others in the Protege group. This is what the group is about – supporting and helping each other. Plus, it’s a sign of self-awareness, which is an essential trait in successful traders.

Anyway, what I wanted to share with you is the response from Anders, also a Protege member. It’s fantastic advice, and contains practical tips for all traders:

What Anders shared here is so valuable.

As traders, we can become hyper-focused on the outcome, because most of us began trading to make a living. However, here’s one of the challenges with trading:

We have NO control over the outcome.

No matter what you do, the market will do what it wants.

It doesn’t know about you and it doesn’t care about you.

The only thing we CAN control is how we approach the markets – the process. So as Anders said, switching focus from the outcome to the process can reduce stress, and celebrating the small wins keeps it positive and enjoyable too.

Plus, success doesn’t come all at once, but through small, consistent steps each day.

Whether it’s getting up early for that quiet, focused hour, aiming for just 1% improvement daily, or breaking tasks down into manageable pieces, progress adds up.

Anyway, I wanted to thank Mark and Anders for sharing this discussion.

It’s something that can be beneficial to all traders.

Tomas
